Note on the Packaging Act

SWM Maschinen GmbH places great importance on sustainability and the avoidance of packaging waste. To fulfill our statutory information and take-back obligations under the German Packaging Act (VerpackG) as well as the EU Packaging Regulation (PPWR – Regulation (EU) 2025/40), we inform our customers below about the handling and return options for packaging materials.

1. Return of Packaging Not Subject to System Participation (Sec. 15 VerpackG / B2B & Transport Packaging)

We hereby inform about the return options for packaging not subject to system participation within the meaning of Sec. 15 (1) Sentence 1 VerpackG in order to ensure its reuse or recycling within the framework of the European circular economy.

This includes in particular:

  • Transport Packaging: Packaging that facilitates the handling and transport of goods (e.g., machinery) in such a way that transport damage is prevented (such as wooden pallets, strapping bands, large cardboard boxes, shrink films) and which is typically not intended to be passed on to private end consumers.
  • Sales and Outer Packaging: Packaging that typically does not accumulate as waste at private end consumers after use.

Take-Back and Costs:
If corresponding packaging material is used during the delivery of a product, we will take it back free of charge. The return takes place by handover at our warehouse location or by returning it to us:

Please note that the customer bears the costs for the return shipment/return transport of the packaging material to our warehouse, unless a deviating written agreement has been made. Insofar as contractual partners are not private households (B2B sector), deviating agreements regarding the place of return and cost regulation may be made.

2. Purpose of Return, Material Separation & Recycling

By returning packaging materials, you help ensure that undamaged packaging can be reused. Damaged packaging is passed by us into the material cycle or properly disposed of.

All packaging materials and packaging aids used by us are recyclable:

  • Packaging Wood / Pallets: Are routed for reuse or energetic/material recycling.
  • Cardboard / Paper: Can be shredded and recycled via waste paper collection or commercial paper recycling facilities.
  • Plastic Films & Cushioning Materials: Consist of polyethylene (PE) or polystyrene (PS) and can be delivered for recycling via recycling centers or specialized waste management companies.

Please ensure that packaging materials are handed over strictly separated by material type in order to enable direct recycling.

3. System Participation for Sales Packaging (B2C / Private End Consumers)

With regard to sales packaging subject to system participation that is filled by us with goods for the first time and supplied to private end consumers, SWM Maschinen GmbH participates in a nationwide take-back system (Dual System) to ensure compliance with statutory obligations:
