Information on the Take-Back of Packaging (Packaging Act & EU Packaging and Waste Directive)

SWM Maschinen GmbH places great emphasis on sustainability and the prevention of packaging waste. To fulfill our legal obligations regarding information and take-back in accordance with the German Packaging Act (VerpackG) and the EU Packaging Regulation (PPWR – Regulation (EU) 2025/40), we hereby inform our customers below regarding the handling and return options for packaging materials.

1. Return of Packaging Not Subject to System Participation (§ 15 VerpackG / B2B & Transport Packaging)

We hereby provide information on the return options for packaging not subject to mandatory participation in a recycling system within the meaning of § 15 (1) sentence 1 VerpackG, in order to ensure its reuse or recycling in accordance with the principles of the European circular economy.

This includes, in particular:

  • Transport packaging: Packaging that facilitates the handling and transport of goods (e.g., machinery) in such a way facilitates the handling and transport of goods (e.g., machinery) in such a way that damage during transport is prevented (such as wooden pallets, strapping, large cardboard boxes, shrink wrap), and which is typically not intended for transfer to private end consumers.
  • Sales and outer packaging: Packaging that, after use, is not typically generated as waste by private end consumers; .

Return and Costs:
If corresponding packaging material is used upon delivery of a product, we will accept its return free of charge. The return is made by handing it over at our warehouse location or by mailing it back to us:

Please note that the customer is responsible for the costs of returning the packaging material to our warehouse, unless otherwise agreed in writing. If the contracting parties are not private households (B2B sector), different agreements regarding the return location and cost allocation may be made.

2. Purpose of Returns, Material Separation, and Recycling

By returning the packaging, you help ensure that undamaged packaging can be reused. Damaged packaging is either returned to the material cycle or disposed of properly by us.

All packaging materials and packaging aids we use are recyclable:

  • Wooden packaging / pallets: These are reused or sent for energy recovery or material recycling.
  • Cardboard / Paper: Can be shredded and recycled through waste paper collection or commercial waste paper recycling.
  • Plastic films & cushioning materials: Are made of polyethylene (PE) or polystyrene (PS) and can be sent for recycling via recycling collection points or specialized waste management companies.

Please ensure that packaging materials are sorted by type before disposal to enable direct recycling.

3. System Participation for Retail Packaging (B2C / Private End Consumers)

With regard to sales packaging subject to system participation that we fill with goods for the first time and deliver to private end consumers, , SWM Maschinen GmbH participates in a nationwide take-back system (Duales System) to ensure compliance with legal obligations:
